WordPress Admin Bar Explained !!
When you log into your WordPress site using username and password, you will be automatically redirected to the WordPress Dashboard. In this tutorial, we will discuss brief details on WordPress Admin Bar.
WordPress Admin Bar Explained !!
The WordPress Admin Bar is the horizontal dark bar that goes across the very top of the screen once you’re logged into your WordPress website. See the screenshot below:
How To Use WordPress Admin Bar
On the very left side of the WordPress Dashboard, you’ll see the WordPress logo. If you hover your mouse on it, you’ll see different links appearing. These links come to handy if you need to take a brief look at the WordPress Documentation, Support Forums, or leave feedback.
To the just right of the WordPress logo, you’ll see the your site’s name. Again, hovering over this you’ll be able to see the link to your site.
The next section gives a quick reference for comments.
Just right to the comment link of the Admin Bar is the + New link. If you hover over this link, you’ll see a submenu that will quickly redirect you to the add new screen for post, media, page and user. All of these can be done from the navigation on the left side of the dashboard, but this where you can access them quickly.
On the far right side of the screen, you’ll see “Howdy, your name.” Hovering over it will display another submenu to either edit your profile or logout from the site.
The WordPress Admin Bar Front End View
By default, when you log into your WordPress site, the Admin Bar will also be visible to you (only logged in users) from the front end of your site. If you hover over the name of our site from the admin bar and click visit site, you’ll see the front end of your site. That’s how others normal users see your website. From this view, the WordPress Admin Bar changes a bit.
Now, if we hover over the title of our site section on the front end, we will see links for the dashboard, which will take us back to the dashboard home, and links to take us to themes, customize, widgets, and menus. This is a great quick reference despite it can be found inside the left-hand navigation menu in the WordPress dashboard.
Turning Off WordPress Admin Bar
WordPress Admin bar is quite handy to most website owners. However, some people don’t like to display Admin Bar when they visit the front end. You can always turn off them and can always revert back.
Note: WordPress Admin Bar is only visible to Logged in users
To turn off this view, click the Edit my Profile link from the top right corner. From this screen, you’ll see a check box to Show Toolbar when viewing site as shown in the screenshot below. Simply uncheck this box to turn off,and click Update profile button.
If you reload your site, the WordPress Admin Bar will not appear on the front end. If you decide later that you’d like to turn the Admin Bar back on, just go to the above step and check the box to show the toolbar again.
